The challenge to set up a medium that captures the mission’s value is a difficult one to crack. For the pilot, an already existing messaging app will be used to facilitate communication between those looking to unburden and those volunteering to lend a listening ear.
The best route at the moment is using an existing medium that is not very popular to kick off the pilot program. Most of the available popular alternatives are not privacy-centric thereby defeating the purpose of pseudonymity that is crucial to protecting people’s identity.
An unpopular app has the added advantage of:
Serving as a forerunner for the dedicated Mental Health app
Enabling people to create a unique pseudonymous username that is not tied to an already existing identity,
Serving as an extra layer of friction to discourage those that are not sincere.
INTRODUCING WIRE
Wire is a privacy centred messaging app and will be the tool for the pilot program. To reduce some of the friction in onboarding, a brief explainer on how to install, setup and begin your journey will be detailed below.
Wire can be downloaded HERE
Setting up in 4 easy steps.
Create an account to start.
2. Register with a phone number. The number used is stored securely by Wire. That piece of information is only known to you and wire.
3. Next step, you pick a username. This is where you set up your pseudonymous identity. It is encouraged that you use a unique username specifically for this purpose.
4. Final step, connect with KEKA by searching for the username “k3ka” as shown in the picture. A “3” is used instead of an “E”.
Now you set to tap into a volunteer community ready to lend you a listening ear when you need it the most.
